Lake Worth (CBS12) — There were only two undefeated high school girls volleyball teams left in Palm Beach County heading into Thursday as Lake Worth Christian prepared to face Benjamin in a battle between those undefeated teams. One senior for Lake Worth Christian known for her defense shines through on the team called the Defenders.
"She leads on the court, she leads with her play," says Lake Worth Christian head coach Terri Kaiser. "She leads with her attitude, she leads with her effort. She's just one of those players that, you can't win without her."
Lake Worth Christian has won all 10 games of the season so far, thanks in part to Caitlyn Walters. She is thankful she transferred to the Defenders for her senior season after her Dad took the women's volleyball head coaching job at Palm Beach Atlantic.
"She grew up with the game," says Kaiser. "So she brings that (experience) to the court."
"I started playing when I was 9 (years old) in club," says Walters. "And it was just so enjoyable to have fun doing what I love with my teammates."
And naturally leading other people. Walters is competitive to the point where she's hard on herself, but not her teammates.
"It's just knowing that even though you made that mistake you still know that you have her right there behind you," says fellow senior Sarah Franklin. "She's just right there, ready to say don't worry, you've got the next one."
"To be there for each other," adds Walters. "And make sure that we can win together, and not just as individuals."
